Mall History

The Menlyn Park Shopping Centre was developed in 1979 and is called after the neighbourhood in which it is located.

Bild Architects altered and enlarged it in 1988.

Menlyn Park was once owned by London, England-based Old Mutual Properties, but is now owned by Pareto Limited, a retail center investment corporation completely owned by the Public Investment Corporation.

Menlyn Park has had numerous improvements since its establishment.

Mall Refurbishment

Another major extension was completed in November 2016, bringing the total floor area to around 177,000m2 and 500 shops.

The R2,5 billion, two-year phased renovation has transformed the site into Tshwane’s regional shopping hub.

The new structure was designed by BILD Architects and Terra Ether Architects, with Concor Construction handling the construction.

The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) awarded the new building a 4-star Green Star Retail Design designation for its efforts to produce the first building phase of the redevelopment using environmentally friendly design and construction principles.
